You’re in the Wright Place!

Wright Sites in Washington

Frank Lloyd Wright was one of the most influential architects of the 20th century, and his work can be found all over the United States. Washington State is home to several of Wright’s homes, each of which is a unique and beautiful example of his style.

One of the Wright homes in Washington is the Brandes House in Sammamish. This house was built for Ray and Mildred Brandes, and it is a classic example of Wright’s Usonian style. The Brandes House features a cantilevered roof, open floor plan, and large windows that bring in plenty of natural light.

The Chauncey L. Griggs House in Tacoma was built in 1946 for Chauncey and Margaret Griggs, and it is one of the few Wright homes that is built on a slope. The Griggs House features a cantilevered roof, open floor plan, and large windows that offer stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

1946 – Chauncey Griggs House – 6816 79th Street W, Tacoma, Washington
1952 – Ray Brandes House – 2202 212th Avenue SE, Sammamish, Washington

About Me

Yvonne Carpenter-Ross

FLW Enthusiast & Webmaster

Architecture and home design have always fascinated me. As a young girl I enjoyed drawing floor plans, rearranging my parent’s furniture and playing with Lincoln Logs and Legos.  My passion has always been the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright. Since I have been old enough to drive a car, I have visited Frank Lloyd Wright homes in the Chicagoland area and attended the Wright Plus house walks. Now, as co-owners of Northern Sky Designs, my husband & I are able to combine our website design skills and FLW travels to bring you this website! Enjoy!
