Samuel-Novarro House (Lloyd Wright)

The Samuel-Novarro House, designed by Lloyd Wright in 1928, is a striking example of Mayan Revival architecture located in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles. Originally built for Louis Samuel, manager of silent film star Ramon Novarro, the house later became home to Novarro himself. Its design features dramatic geometric patterns, concrete construction, and oxidized copper accents, characteristic of Wright’s unique style.

Over the years, the Samuel-Novarro House has attracted a string of Hollywood elite. Following Novarro, notable figures such as Leonard Bernstein, Jerome Robbins, and Diane Keaton have resided within its walls. Keaton played a significant role in restoring the property, ensuring its architectural integrity for future generations. The house stands not only as a testament to Lloyd Wright’s creative vision but also as a symbol of Hollywood’s glamorous and intriguing past.

FLW Enthusiast & Webmaster

Architecture and home design have always fascinated me. As a young girl I enjoyed drawing floor plans, rearranging my parent’s furniture and playing with Lincoln Logs and Legos.  My passion has always been the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright. Since I have been old enough to drive a car, I have visited Frank Lloyd Wright homes in the Chicagoland area and attended the Wright Plus house walks. Now, as co-owners of Northern Sky Designs, my husband & I are able to combine our website design skills and FLW travels to bring you this website! Enjoy!
