Anderton Court Shops (1952)

anderton exterior

The Anderton Court Shops is a small, three-story group of shops on fashionable Rodeo Drive in the downtown section of Beverly Hills, California. It was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and completed in 1952. The building is a unique example of Wright’s organic architecture, which emphasizes simplicity, functionality, and harmony with nature.

The building is U-shaped with a central courtyard. The exterior is made of white concrete with a hexagonal floor plan. The roof is flat and is topped with a stunning white spire. The building’s entrance is located on the north side and is flanked by two large, angled ramps. The ramps lead up to the second floor of the building, which is where the shops are located.

The interior of the Anderton Court Shops is just as unique as the exterior. The walls are made of white concrete and the floors are made of terrazzo. The ceilings are high and there are large windows that let in plenty of natural light. The shops are located on the second floor and are arranged around the central courtyard.

The fashion world was abuzz when luxury brand Givenchy announced its decision to occupy the entire Anderton Court Shops in Beverly Hills in 2024.  This location has been transformed into Givenchy’s new West Coast flagship. Their move into the Anderton Court Shops marks a new chapter for Rodeo Drive, elevating the high fashion shopping experience!

Yvonne Carpenter-Ross

FLW Enthusiast & Webmaster

Architecture and home design have always fascinated me. As a young girl I enjoyed drawing floor plans, rearranging my parent’s furniture and playing with Lincoln Logs and Legos.  My passion has always been the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright. Since I have been old enough to drive a car, I have visited Frank Lloyd Wright homes in the Chicagoland area and attended the Wright Plus house walks. Now, as co-owners of Northern Sky Designs, my husband & I are able to combine our website design skills and FLW travels to bring you this website! Enjoy!
