The Arch Oboler Estate, also known as “Eaglefeather,” was a unique Frank Lloyd Wright-designed complex located in the hills above Malibu, California. Wright began designing the estate in the 1940s for Arch Oboler, a prominent figure in American entertainment, and his wife, Eleanor. Though Wright envisioned a larger complex, only a gatehouse and a smaller retreat, “Eleanor’s Retreat,” were ultimately built.

Wright’s design for Eaglefeather incorporated his signature organic architecture, utilizing natural materials like stone and wood to blend the structures with the surrounding landscape. The complex featured desert masonry, a technique Wright also employed at Taliesin West. The estate was intended to serve as a residence and include a film studio, stables, and other structures, reflecting Oboler’s diverse creative pursuits.
