You’re in the Wright Place!
E. Fay Jones (1921-2004) was a renowned American architect celebrated for his organic designs that harmonized with nature. A student of Frank Lloyd Wright, Jones synthesized Wright’s principles with his own distinct vision, creating an architectural style that was both elegant and deeply connected to the environment.
Born in Arkansas, Jones’s work often featured natural materials such as wood and stone, reflecting the Ozark landscapes that inspired him. He is particularly known for his chapel designs, including Thorncrown Chapel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, a structure admired for its delicate beauty and integration with the surrounding forest.
Jones’s architecture emphasizes intricate details, craftsmanship, and a sense of intimacy. His buildings often evoke a feeling of tranquility and spiritual connection, demonstrating his belief that architecture should provide shelter and uplift the human spirit.
Throughout his career, Jones received numerous accolades, including the AIA Gold Medal in 1990, the highest honor awarded by the American Institute of Architects. His legacy continues to influence architects today, and he is remembered as one of the most significant American architects of the 20th century.

Architecture and home design have always fascinated me. As a young girl I enjoyed drawing floor plans, rearranging my parent’s furniture and playing with Lincoln Logs and Legos. My passion has always been the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright. Since I have been old enough to drive a car, I have visited Frank Lloyd Wright homes in the Chicagoland area and attended the Wright Plus house walks. Now, as co-owners of Northern Sky Designs, my husband & I are able to combine our website design skills and FLW travels to bring you this website! Enjoy!
