Wright Sites in Kentucky

Stone wall in rural Kentucky

Frankfort, Kentucky, may be a small capital city, but it packs a big punch when it comes to charm and historical significance. And no visit is complete without taking a stroll past the  Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Ziegler House. Nestled amidst tree-lined streets, the 1910 Prairie Style masterpiece stands as the only Wright-built structure in the state. While the house is currently a private residence and not open to the public, it is easily visible from the street.

But Frankfort’s treasures extend far beyond the Ziegler House. No Kentucky experience is complete without indulging in some bourbon. Take a tour and tasting at the world-renowned Buffalo Trace Distillery, where some of the finest bourbon in the world is crafted. Learn about the distilling process, savor the smooth taste, and bring home a bottle (or two) as a souvenir. Learn more about Kentucky’s Bourbon Trail!

About Me

Yvonne Carpenter-Ross

FLW Enthusiast & Webmaster

Architecture and home design have always fascinated me. As a young girl I enjoyed drawing floor plans, rearranging my parent’s furniture and playing with Lincoln Logs and Legos.  My passion has always been the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright. Since I have been old enough to drive a car, I have visited Frank Lloyd Wright homes in the Chicagoland area and attended the Wright Plus house walks. Now, as co-owners of Northern Sky Designs, my husband & I are able to combine our website design skills and FLW travels to bring you this website! Enjoy!
