You’re in the Wright Place!

William Wesley Peters

William Wesley Peters (1912-1991) was a prominent American architect and engineer, best known for his close association with Frank Lloyd Wright. Peters began his apprenticeship with Wright at Taliesin in 1932, becoming an integral part of Wright’s team. He contributed significantly to several of Wright’s iconic projects, including Fallingwater, the Johnson Wax Buildings, and the Guggenheim Museum, where he was responsible for the structural design.

A Leadership Role

Peters’ expertise in engineering was crucial to the realization of Wright’s visionary designs. After Wright’s death in 1959, Peters assumed leadership of Taliesin Associated Architects, carrying forward Wright’s architectural philosophy.

Organic Architecture

Beyond his work with Wright, Peters established his own architectural legacy. He designed numerous notable projects across the United States and internationally, including the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts and the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. His designs reflect a continuation of Wright’s organic architecture principles, emphasizing harmony between structures and their environment.

Family Ties

Notably, Peters was married to Svetlana Wright, Frank Lloyd Wright’s stepdaughter. This marriage further intertwined his life with Wright’s family and legacy. Peters’ career cemented his place as a significant figure in 20th-century architecture, both for his contributions to Wright’s masterpieces and for his own distinctive designs.

Yvonne Carpenter-Ross

FLW Enthusiast & Webmaster

Architecture and home design have always fascinated me. As a young girl I enjoyed drawing floor plans, rearranging my parent’s furniture and playing with Lincoln Logs and Legos.  My passion has always been the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright. Since I have been old enough to drive a car, I have visited Frank Lloyd Wright homes in the Chicagoland area and attended the Wright Plus house walks. Now, as co-owners of Northern Sky Designs, my husband & I are able to combine our website design skills and FLW travels to bring you this website! Enjoy!
