You’re in the Wright Place!

Aaron Green

Aaron Green (1917-2001) was an American architect renowned for his commitment to organic architecture and his close association with Frank Lloyd Wright. Green’s journey into architecture began with an indirect connection to Wright. After studying at Cooper Union in New York, Green found himself in Florence, Alabama, where he was asked to design a home for friends Stanley and Mildred Rosenbaum.

Green persuaded the Rosenbaums to commission Frank Lloyd Wright for their home, now known as the Rosenbaum House. Impressed by Green’s dedication, Wright invited him to join the Taliesin Fellowship.

Green’s relationship with Wright spanned two decades, during which he worked on numerous projects and developed a deep understanding of Wright’s principles. After serving in the Air Force in World War II, Green established his practice and eventually became Wright’s West Coast representative in 1951. This collaboration allowed Green to both pursue his own projects and serve as Wright’s eyes and hands on the West Coast.

One of Green’s most significant contributions was his work on the Marin County Civic Center. Wright designated Green as the Associate Architect for this ambitious project, and Green played a crucial role in bringing Wright’s vision to fruition.

Beyond his work with Wright, Aaron Green established his own successful architectural career, designing a range of projects that reflected his interpretation of organic architecture. His work encompasses residential, commercial, and institutional designs, all characterized by a sensitivity to the site and a harmonious integration with the surrounding environment. Some of his notable projects include:

  • The Marin County Civic Center (Associate Architect with Frank Lloyd Wright)

  • Several residential and commercial projects throughout California

Aaron Green’s work solidified his place in the world of architecture, carrying the torch of organic design into the later half of the 20th century.

Yvonne Carpenter-Ross

FLW Enthusiast & Webmaster

Architecture and home design have always fascinated me. As a young girl I enjoyed drawing floor plans, rearranging my parent’s furniture and playing with Lincoln Logs and Legos.  My passion has always been the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright. Since I have been old enough to drive a car, I have visited Frank Lloyd Wright homes in the Chicagoland area and attended the Wright Plus house walks. Now, as co-owners of Northern Sky Designs, my husband & I are able to combine our website design skills and FLW travels to bring you this website! Enjoy!
