Harris House

2006 - Harris House

11110 River Rd, Yorkville, Illinois

This "Wright-inspired" home was custom designed for this site by David Irvin, and constructed by Ed Saloga Builders. This one-acre site on the Fox River lies just four miles from the iconic Farnsworth House. The home is angled toward the woods rather than facing the road. This affords both privacy and a view of the trees from the leaded-glass of the main entrance, and provides stunning views of the river. Having the primary living space above the ground floor was a technique employed by Frank Lloyd Wright to give both privacy and better views of the natural beauty outdoors.
